Virginia's Red Shirt
Tag # 000247

Virginia is well known in Iowa City, she used to run a consignment shop in town and still has a house full of stuff from when it was open. I used to work with her at the Motley Cow Cafe.

She gave me this shirt last spring when I spent a few hours on her porch one afternoon drinking PBR cans and enjoying what's left of her great view. Every year or two the Hospital next door tears down a few more of the houses in the neighborhood to accommodate parking for the doctor's Lexi and Volvos.

This shirt is damn near threadbare, well worn indeed, and in Iowa that usually means hard honest labor, not like a well worn shirt from a day trader who buys and sells junkbonds and calls it a job.
